This is the 1963 (completed 12/62)  AC Cobra CSX 2020. For only $
Born with a 260 engine, early on it had a factory installed 289 engine (the carbs are the competition Weber's that were built with the car and replaced at this same time) and actually this was the first competition car sold to private sector set up for racing.  Everything prior was a Shelby race car only delivery.  Once you look up the chassis number, you'll know everything about the car I do. Phil Long Ford was the original owner.  He rented it to Chuck Frederick who raced it to finish at Pikes Peak 3rd place in 1965.

The second owner was Bob Nelson who also raced it in SCCA events.  Mr. Nelson raced and rallied the car with SCCA in the Colorado region competing in such events as the Butterfield Trail Rally and Seven Trails Rally   Mr. Nelson continued to race this Cobra into the early 70s. The car was placed into storage in 1972 with approximately 100,000 miles on the vehicle Mr. Nelson moved to New Jersey in the mid 1980s and brought the car with him. He then sold the cat to Investment Motor Sports in 1987

The car was bought in 1987 at the Palm Springs Auction by John & Colleen Hall of Santa Monica, CA. Either they or one of the dealers put the car back in mostly street trim as it was in this configuration when the next owner purchased the car.

Mike Poppiti, of Wilmington, DE, purchased the car in 1992. Mike fully restored the car  at a shop in CA noted for doing Cobras at the time while at the same time making sure it could be driven on the streets of Wilmington and shown at SAAC (Shelby American Automobile Club or SAAC)  events and other venues. During this time, the ex SCCA national Champion and owner of Alderman Automotive did set-up work on the Webers for Mike.

Mike showed the car at 3 SAAC events, 1993 Watkins Glen taking first place Peoples Choice, 1996 LimeRock Park where he repeated his first place and again in 2000 at LimeRock Park where he repeated his first place again. For the next number of years the car could be seen driving about Wilmington and at some local car events.

Current owner purchased the car in 2010. With some minor cleaning and setup work the car began to be shown at local small shows British Car Show at Westtown, Westtown, PA and slightly more prestigious small shows, The Classics at Brantwyn and it was placed on display at the Simeone Museum, Philadelphia, PA and then was taken to the 2012 SAAC again held at Watkins Glen where the car repeated its string of first places finishes, again claiming first in Peoples Choice.

It looks fantastic, runs and drives tremendously.  He has kept it up and improved upon it mechanically throughout his ownership. There is the owner's manual, history papers, all the write ups, awards, Simeone Museum documentation.   All information is confirmed on the registry.
