The Jaguar XKSS was an incredible concept. They took the Le Mans winning D-Type, put a windscreen on it took the fin off the back and sold it for road use. The XKSS came to be because after the 1955 season, Jaguar was retiring the extra D-Types that weren't finished. The owner of Jaguar, William Lyons, wanted to make as much on the chassis as he could. The market for high powered European sports cars was big enough to justify putting the XKSS into production. One of only sixteen of the road-going racers was sold to famous actor and star of the 1971 film Le Mans, Steve McQueen.
