1961 Jaguar E-Type Series I 'Flat-Floor' with Welded Bonnet Louvers
This 1961 Jaguar E-Type Series I 'Flat-Floor' with Welded Bonnet Louvers is a matching numbers example. The Series I flat-floors were the earliest E-Types manufactured. Less than 2,000 flat-floor units in total rolled off the production line in Coventry that came to an end before the year was out. The earlier flat-floor models also had welded bonnet louvers, which were changed to pressed louvers later that year as well. This particular flat-floor XKE is a left-hand drive that is one of the production of only 1,400 in total. The rarity of these Series I XKE flat-floor versions makes them all the more desirable today. Chassis Number 875856 was manufactured on October 20, 1961 and was delivered to T. T. Tuford via Jaguar of Eastern Canada, Montreal.
Today, chassis 875856 would benefit from paintwork and chrome work as both are showing their age at this time. The motor runs strong and with some cosmetic recommissioning the car could easily be taken to driver quality level. Red with black soft top and newly upholstered maroon leather interior and wearing redline tires. It's also recently received a thorough tune-up, oil change. A straight, solid, original, and honest example. The E-Types remain the most desirable street cars Jaguar has ever produced; this fact simply cannot be overstated.
