1989 Mercedes-Benz 190E
1986 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3-16 Cosworth Sports Saloon: Iconic Homologation Special
Produced with racing in mind, Mercedes-Benz asked British engineering company Cosworth to develop an engine for their 190E rally car. This high-performance model was known as the 190 E 2.3-16V, and debuted in September at the 1983 Frankfurt Motor Show. Along with the high-performance Cosworth engine, the 16-valve cars came with a body kit, a quicker steering ratio, Getrag 5-speed dog-leg manual gearbox, and recaro seats. It also had three extra dials - an oil temperature gauge, stopwatch and voltmeter - were included in the centre console. The suspension on 16-valve models is modified as well by being both lower and stiffer.
This particular example is a solid and straight California car in need of servicing and minor cosmetics. It has 153k miles and is ready for straightforward recommissioning. It runs and drives but will need servicing to be considered roadworthy. The paint and interior are also tired at this point. Although this iconic homologation special does need some attention, it has plenty of investment potential. The market is hot for these cars and this one represents a superb value. Offered at an absolute bargain price, don't miss this exciting opportunity to own this increasingly collectible and sought-after Sports Saloon.
