1986 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3-16 Cosworth Sports Saloon: Iconic Homologation Special
Produced with racing in mind, Mercedes-Benz asked British engineering company Cosworth to develop an engine for their 190E rally car. This high-performance model was known as the 190 E 2.3-16V, and debuted in September at the 1983 Frankfurt Motor Show. Along with the high-performance Cosworth engine, the 16-valve cars came with a body kit, a quicker steering ratio, Getrag 5-speed dog-leg manual gearbox, and recaro seats. It also had three extra dials - an oil temperature gauge, stopwatch and voltmeter - were included in the centre console. The suspension on 16-valve models is modified as well by being both lower and stiffer.
