History & Specifications of the Rolls-RoyceRolls-Royce started back when Henry Royce started his electrical and mechanical business in 1884. He made his first car, the two-cylinder Royce 10. Charles Rolls was so impressed with Henry's efforts that he bought every car Royce built and sold it exclusively in his dealership. The two later made a partnership and unveiled their first car, the Rolls-Royce 10 hp, at the Paris Salon in 1904. Riding the success of the 10 hp, Royce developed a new six-cylinder in 1906. They used this engine in a new car called the 40/50 hp. The 40/50 hp did so well they discontinued al previous models so they could focus all their efforts on the new car. In 1921 Rolls-Royce opened a factory in Massachusetts to meet demand for American clients. These cars were later called "Springfield Ghosts". The chassis on the 40/50 was built so well that it was used as the basis for the first British armored car. It was used in both wars.
After Rolls-Royce's rise from the ashes at the hand of BMW they have been building bespoke luxury automobiles with exquisite craftsmanship. Rolls-Royce has revived the idea of a "customer car", allowing the client full control over their car from conception to the second it rolls off the factory floor. Those purchasing a new Rolls-Royce can chose from millions of different combinations and options to fit their needs. Some can even opt to have their own logo monogrammed onto their seats.
