White with Red Interior
Among the first generation Corvettes, 1957 was a very special year. The Corvette had received its first facelift the year before, which dramatically enhanced the success of the model, which had not been terribly successful up until that point. 1957 was marked by the introduction of optional fuel-injection, which would distinguish the highest performance Corvettes until the introduction of the big block powerplant in 1965. There were numerous other desirable options introduced around this time including Wonderbar signal seeking radio, tachometer, electric windows and 4-speed transmission. In total, just 1040 fuel injected Corvettes were built in 1957, making them especially rare.
This 1957 Corvette is a nice restored driver example that was built on Friday the 19th of July, 1957. The body is very nice with very good gaps an attractive paint job that looks fresh and has a few minor chips in selected areas but strong overall presentation. The chrome ranges from very good to excellent, with pitting on the windscreen surround and side mirror, but no major signs of wear or aging on the bumpers. The wheels wear correct hub caps and the headlights are correct T3 items.
The interior is correctly presented and has nice upholstery, carpets, and dashboard. The upholstery and carpets are in very good shape with minor aging only and are quite correct in appearance. The dashboard is also very nice, retaining correct switches and instruments which are in very good but not freshly restored. The radio is a genuine 1957 Wonder Bar unit. There is chipping in the driver"s door jamb by the seatback from ingress and egress.
The engine compartment has a number of rare and desirable parts including 9 fin valve covers and 4360 fuel injection unit. The engine number is stamped F308EM which corresponds to a 250hp fuel-injected motor assembled in Flint, Michigan, and is cast with the following numbers at the rear on either side: 3731548 and G857. The fuel injection unit is a 7014360 unit and the metering unit 7014362. The generator is a 11102043 serial number 8F28. The distributor is a 1110990 unit date coded 1H22. The trunk is nicely restored and fresh in appearance. For only $
