Rare 5-Speed Mercedes 300SL Gullwing "Tony Ostermeier" Recreation with 3,977 Miles
This 2000 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing Recreation by Tony Ostermeier is an extremely rare and desirable 5-speed manual example with just 3,977 miles from new. This stunning 300SL Gullwing Recreation was built in 2000 by 'Tony' Ostermeier, whose Gullwing Car Company was based in Gardena, California. Tony founded his company in order to take the concept of a 'replica' 300SL to a new level, designing a ground-up recreation worthy of sharing the spotlight with the iconic original. The look and aesthetic of the car are shockingly accurate.
This late 'production' 2000 model, is truly like-new and mechanically excellent. It's covered just 3,977 miles since new. Silver over hand-stitched brown leather interior and trim. Exterior paint, trim and brightwork are in factory new condition. As each Ostermeier was built to order, this car comes well-equipped with the Mercedes-Benz fuel injected E-Class 3.0 litre, six cylinder twin cam engine and 5-speed manual gearbox, and the engine presentation is superb in a tidy and impeccably clean engine bay. It is air-conditioned and thus practical for cruising and as a road car; a superb car to drive. This example features a wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel among the otherwise extremely accurate interior details, which are a carbon copy of the original with beautifully finished chrome switchgear, controls and accurately reproduced VDO metric instruments. The steering wheel tilts away too for easier access just as does the original. It's widely acknowledged that these cars are extremely rare, highly desirable, and considered genuine collectables in their own right. This is an extremely fine example of the Ostermeier 300SL Gullwing. Finding a 5-speed manual example is like finding a needle in a haystack.
