Introduced at the London Motor Show in 1948 the XK120 was a revolutionary car for Jaguar. The car was so well-received that Jaguar put the car into production almost immediately. The first few XK120's were made with an ash wood frame and aluminum body panels. Later models switched to pressed steel body panels to meet with demand. When it came out, the XK120 was the worlds fastest production car, topping out at 120mph. That is also where the "120" in XK120 comes from. The XK120 also introduced the XK engine which powered the other XK models and various other Jaguar models until 1992.
